Content introduction:

Ambassador Gong Yuanxing will share with you his experience in language learning and translation practice on the basis of his own experience and career development.

Brief introduction of the lecturer:

Gong Yuanxing, born in Shanghai in March 1952, graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages of Fudan University in 1974 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. He successively served as the staff member of the Chinese Embassy in Niger, section member of the Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Third Secretary, Second Secretary, Deputy Director, First Secretary, Director and Counselor. From 1983 to 1985, he had studied in the Third University of Bordeaux, the Paris Institute of Politics and the Third University of Paris. Since 1996, Ambassador Gong had worked in Chinese Embassies in Chad, Mali, Guinea, Morocco and Senegal. From 2001 to 2012, he served as China's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Guinea, the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal. He is a diplomat with profound attainments in African studies.

Ambassador Gong is also a senior translator, responsible for the finalization of important diplomatic documents. He has served as French translator for Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and other state leaders. In 2018, he won the honorary certificate of "Senior Translator" of China Translation Association. Ambassador Gong Yuanxing was awarded the National First-class Medal by the King of Morocco and the National First-class Lion Medal by the President of Senegal, which are both the highest medals of honor of the two countries to recognize Ambassador Gong's outstanding contributions to promoting bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields during his tenure of office.
