Summary:
Scholars of natural sciences in China have demands to issue their papers on international journals, but most of them may have difficulty in English writing. Therefore, some may resort to a third party’s services for paper publication, which include paper translation, paper editing, replying to peer reviewers. At present, since there are few researches on China’s scholars of natural sciences’ resort to a third party’s services for paper publication on international journals, a number of questions are yet to be answered. For instance, what sorts of services are provided for the scholars, what sorts of services they will employ, and how well does a third party work? In this lecture, Assistant Professor Luo Na will introduce her research on these matters and elaborate how 34 scholars involved in this research view the services for paper publication and how were their experiences when resorting to such services.
Speaker Biography:
Dr. Luo Na is a full assistant professor in School of Foreign Languages at Wuhan University of Science and Technology. She received a Ph.D. degree from Hong Kong University and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Chinese University of Hong Kong. She focuses on academic English writing and feedback in second language writing. She issued over 30 articles in the fields of applied linguistics and academic writing.
