On May 27th, at the invitation of School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, LZU, Prof. Shang Biwu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave a lecture entitled “Foreign Literature Research and Research Innovation: Paths and Reflections”, which was convened by Zhu Gang, Dean of the School.

Based on his own research experience, Prof. Shang Biwu elaborated on the innovative path of foreign literature research from the aspects of academic orientation, subject application, paper writing and publication. Then, Prof. Shang introduced the specific paths for foreign literature researchers to determine their research fields and condense their academic directions, especially emphasizing the significance of cultivating “identity consciousness” and focusing on research directions. Besides, Prof. Shang shared his own experience in declaring projects from the aspects of literature selection, research value & contents and problem awareness. Finally, Prof. Shang mentioned the cognitive transformation of the function of literary research, pointed out that literature features dynamic and social application value, and encouraged teachers and students to delve into literature and also go out of literature in promoting social change with literary research, and solving many important problems faced by human beings.
