On June 14th, at the invitation of School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, LZU, Professor Xu Hong from School of Russian and Eurasian Studies, Shanghai International Studies University delivered an academic lecture titled “A New Exploration of ” and “Integration and Development of Foreign Languages and Literature with Area Studies”. The lecture, convened by Prof. Zhang Hongli, vice dean, attracted both teachers and students of the School.
The lecture covered various aspects including the background and significance of ideological and political education within the curriculum, educational reforms guided by the ideological and political concepts in curriculum, and the distinctive practices in the Russian language program at Shanghai International Studies University. Prof. Xu Hong, thoroughly interpreted the essence of curriculum-based ideological and political education, followed by an analysis of the design concepts, objectives, element integration strategies, and evaluation of effectiveness specific to foreign language disciplines and the Russian program. She also shared the practical pathways and effectiveness of the ideological and political construction in the Russian language program at SISU, exemplified by the Ministry of Education’s model course “Practical Russian Grammar II” taught by her. Furthermore, she detailed how the Russian program at SISU has been integrating professional teaching with ideological and political education, based on the practice of international communication.
The lecture was concluded by an in-depth discussion between Prof. Xu and the attending teachers on topics such as the construction of top-tier majors, recruitment and employment for Russian studies, talent training models, and the use of the series of textbooks named “Understanding Contemporary China”.
