SFLL Delegation Conducts Translation Industry Research in Xi’an

To address the challenges in the translation sector amid the AI revolution, a delegation from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, led by Zhang Hongli, Associate Dean of the school, undertook a targeted research initiative in Xi’an on June 4th. The mission focused on university-industry collaboration, emerging talent demands, labor market shifts, and practical teaching reforms. Accompanying Dean Zhang were He Min (Associate Director of MTI Center), Associate Professor Gao Yu, and faculty members Wang Tianju, Ma Yilin, Kong Xinke, and Ma Qifeng.

Morning Session: Transn (Shaanxi) Internet of Languages Technology Co., Ltd.

The delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges with Transn executives regarding the transformation of translator training in the AI era. Company representatives demonstrated their AI-empowered translation project management platform and outlined current industry skill gaps, particularly in technical translation and technology application. Both parties explored collaborative development of smart translation training modules, industry-specific case databases, and technology-integrated curricula.

Afternoon Session: Shaanxi Huilan Technology Co., Ltd.

At Huilan Technology, corporate leaders presented case studies illustrating trends in specialized translation domains, emphasizing successful university-industry partnerships. The dialogue yielded preliminary agreements on establishing internship bases and co-developing niche-oriented courses, with a shared commitment to cultivating advanced language professionals with specialized expertise.

Through enterprise field visits and expert exchanges, the delegation gained insights into AI integration in translation workflows, domain-specific expertise requirements, and effective university-industry collaboration models. School will enhance its talent development framework through regular industry engagement, joint projects, localized internships, and other collaborative mechanisms. These initiatives aim to improve graduates’ adaptability and provide skilled professionals to the AI-driven language services sector.
